Having graduated from Oxford in the mid 80s, he began his career in the City working at NatWest and HSBC before joining Reuters as a “poacher turned gamekeeper,” where he spent 7 years selling news, financial information and technology with great success.
Latterly at Reuters he ran the mobile division, creating the world’s first push-based personalised news service, seriously ahead of its time in 1999.
From there he ran a technology business delivering video over mobile phones (pre 3G, so again ahead of its time) before launching a ground-breaking Intellectual Property service at NetNames. Over five years in the mid Noughties, NetNames brought domain name management to the world, becoming market leaders, managing the largest brand portfolios, including over 30% of the FTSE100 – generating over £5m of annual revenue.
For the last ten years he has worked on a number of turn-around, trouble-shooting roles – usually in an Interim capacity. He has prepared businesses for sale, negotiated those transactions, built new sales structures, opened and exploited new markets, and embraced new technologies and practices.
